The Moon

Let’s examine that again at a slower speed.

North Pole South Pole The southern part of the moon has lots of craters! Notice how the Mare Crisium moves a little bit during the phase changes. The same side of the moon always faces the Earth.

The easiest way you can view the Moon is with binoculars. The best nights to view through binoculars/telescope are when the Moon is in the crescent stages. During the crescent stages you will see lots of detail. The sun cast shadows across the craters, thus creating more depth to the image you are seeing. The worst nights are during the full Moon stages.
