Description You have to wear fire helmets, turnout pants & jackets, self contained breathing apparatus, gloves, boots, & personal alert safety system. (when in fires) Have to wear khakis and a t-shirt to work, along with boots & all of your radios. Drive fire trucks and other emergency vehicles to emergencies Put out fires using hoses and pumps Fire and rescue victims in burning buildings or in other emergency conditions Treat victims’ injuries with emergency medical services Prepare written reports on fire or emergency incidents Clean and maintain equipment Conduct drills and training in fire-fighting techniques Provide public education

Education/Training Have a postsecondary, non-degree award Could also het associates degree You need to have a high school diploma or something equivalent Study firefighting and fire-prevention techniques, local building codes, and emergency medical procedures Fight fires with standard equipments (axes, chainsaws, fire extinguishers, and ladders) Some program last up to 4 years, the programs combine formal instruction, with on-the-job-training under the super vision of experienced firefighters

Salary $45610 a year.
