Popularity of gymnastics in Australia can be increased by introducing the sport To core curriculum To media coverage

Media coverage The media are communication vehicles for sport Reflect and reinforce the important role of sport in our lives Have a major influence on the promotion and development of sport Have a powerful role in making sports popular

Media coverage Sport and media are extremely dependant on one another Sport relies on media to promote its various forms The media have a powerful role in making particular sports popular through the levels of coverage and prominence they are given Examples Sports shown during prime time / free to air Sports shown during Commonwealth and Olympic events

Sponsorship Media coverage can determine whether a sport is promoted or ignored, and if the coverage is positive, it can assist with the development of the sports profile in Australia Sponsorship cycle More exposure creates more participants / viewers More participants / viewers leads to more sponsorship More sponsors gained, the more the sport is recognised which results in more money being funded and invested towards that sport Means more money to develop that sport
