MATRIX FILES IN SURVEY
Sample of AutoMTX Display in SURVEY. The Auto Matrix (AutoMTX) feature in HYPACK only works with multibeam systems. Based on your default size, it automatically tracks the average, minimum and maximum depths, along with the number of samples per cell and the standard deviation in each cell.

You have to manually enter them in HYSWEEP SURVEY. The AutoMTX feature is only available in HYPACK SURVEY. It only works with multibeam data. Give it a try!
Matrix (*.MTX) Files in SURVEY HYPACK SURVEY: For non-multibeam systems, select the driver that you want to use to paint the matrix cells. For multibeam systems, the depths for every scan are sent to HYPACK SURVEY via shared memory. (Check the options in HYSWEEP SURVEY-Matrix-Options). DREDGEPACK: Select the driver that provides the depth of the digging tool. HYSWEEP SURVEY depth info is passed automatically into HYPACK SURVEY.
Programs that can use a MTX File. ProgramUsageComments MATRIX EDITOR Creates blank MTX files. Make sure you designate usage in HYPACK or HYSWEEP! MAPPER Can fill MTX files with depths. Does not ‘infill’ blank matrix cells. TIN MODEL Can fill MTX files with depths. Can ‘infill’ blank cells on the interior of the model. SURVEY Can update MTX files with depths. Minimum, Maximum or Latest value. Corrected or Uncorrected depth. HYSWEEP® SURVEY Updates MTX with depths to show coverage. Tracks minimum and maximum depth values in each cell. Tracks 100% or 200% for each cell. DREDGEPACK® Updates MTX with depth of cutting tool. Minimum depth value for ‘depth- based’ projects. Maximum depth value for ‘elevation-based’ projects. XYZ to MTX Automatically creates filled MTX file. TIN MODEL for Dummies.
MTX Files in HYPACK SURVEY Specify the size of your default MTX x 1000 is the maximum number of cells per MTX. These options are available for User Defined MTX. These options are available for AutoMTX with HYSWEEP data. This window is available from the Matrix menu item in the main HYPACK SURVEY window.
Matrix Options: Map Window The Matrix Appearance window is available from each Map Window’s Matrix menu Using AutoMTX, each Map Window can display different matrix info. Above, the left map window has average depths, while the right map window shows the samples per cell. All depth displays are now light-shaded. You can see more detail if you increase the Z Scale Factor (vertical exaggeration) and adjust the light azimuth and inclination. (0˚ has the light directly above).
HYPACK SURVEY Matrix Options When using “User Defined” MTX files, HYPACK SURVEY will load those MTX files that have been enabled in the HYPACK SHELL. You cannot change from “User Defined” MTX files to AutoMTX in a project (or vice versa) without losing the previous MTX information.

HYPACK HARDWARE: Set “Use for MTX Update” This must be done for the user-defined MTX files. If you are running HYPACK SURVEY and HYSWEEP SURVEY, the multibeam depths will automatically be used to fill the MTX for user-defined MTXs or AutoMTX.
Multiple Matrices in SURVEY When using User-Defined MTX files, HYPACK SURVEY will load and unload each one, depending on the proximity of the MTX to the survey vessel. In Automatic MTX mode, SURVEY displays a 3x3 MTX grid around the current vessel position when “On-Line”. Users can display all MTX files when “Off-Line”.
