 Voice Lesson Activity OR  Sentence Composing Activity OR  Daily Oral Language Activity  10 minutes

 Semester 1: Grammar and Composition  Semester 2: Literature and Speech  Minute Lessons

 One book per quarter  200 pages or more  (or two books for 100 pages or more each)  Must be MG or UG in your ZPD  Must pass an AR test with a 7 or higher  Complete weekly AR assignment

9.W.1.1 (synthesis) Students can write a thesis statement for an expository or persuasive document. 9.W.1.2 (evaluation) Students can revise a document for sentence fluency. 9.W.2.1 (application) Students can revise text for the correct use of phrases. 9.W.2.2 (application) Students can identify and incorporate prepositional phrases in the writing process.

9.W.1.3 (synthesis) Students can write an informational document using primary and secondary sources that are listed on a reference page. 9.R.5.1 (evaluation) Students can evaluate primary and secondary sources for credibility. 9.R.5.2 (knowledge) Students can interpret procedural text to complete a multiple-step task.

9.LVS.1.1: Students can analyze the use of images, text and sound in media for accuracy, validity, and influence. 9.LVS.1.2: Students can implement organizational methods for informative presentations. 9.LVS.1.3: Students can clarify and defend positions with precise and relevant evidence within an informal setting. 9.LVS.1.4: Students can support a presentation with audio/visual aids and technology considering audience and purpose.

COATS AND BACKPACKS  Students should leave their coats in their lockers during the school day. Book bags may be used as long as the following rules are followed: 1. Only smaller type book bags will be allowed. An appropriate size is 12 ‖ X 18 ‖. No duffel bags or sports bags. 2. Book bags must be placed under the student desk while in the classroom. Bags placed in the aisle will be confiscated by the teacher and turned into the office. 3. Only classroom materials should be carried in the bags. Bags found with contraband will be confiscated and turned into the office.  Students who violate the above regulations will lose book bag privileges for one week on the first offense and for the remainder of the semester for a second offense.
