ICT learning centres in all libraries Connecting 4,300 public libraries to the information superhighway by 2002 Over 30,000 public access terminals NOF funding –£100m for hardware –£50 for content creation –£20m to provide ICT training for staff What is it?

Beyond NOF funding Develop the People's Network as a virtual library which:  ensures the transition of the public library into the 21st century - delivering that public "third space" online, accessible from the channel of choice, 24 hours a day  Widens the library-based resources of the People's Network to be relevant to museums and archives  underpins the long-term sustainability of the People’s Network in England

Three year plan? Year 1: consultation, action research, pilot demonstration Year 2: Service development, implementation and scalability Year 3: Management framework and sustainable development Plus: evaluation, techie stuff, policy dev.
