Presentation transcript:

By any greens necessary Tracye Lynn McQuirter's new book, “By Any Greens Necessary," is a how-to guide for learning to eat healthy for life and liberate the way people think about food. "This is not about going on a diet or giving up tasty food, you don’t have to do either one, she says "This is about changing your life. It’s about starting a revolution — by any greens necessary.”

Sustainable architecture Laurinda Spear is CEO of Arquitectonica GEO, a firm that focuses on environmental land planning and landscape design. The Ballet Valet parking facility in Miami is just one of the firm’s eco- designs. This verdant parking garage in South Beach was once ready for demolition, but today, the retail shops have been restored along with five stories of valuable parking spaces.

Kansha “Kansha is a word that is used in many circumstances,” Elizabeth Andoh explains. “It means appreciation. In terms of food and in a culinary context, you are talking about … an appreciation of what the natural world provides, and the other is how clever people are in accessing it and using it.”

Falling Leaves Aileen Ishmael has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She proclaims that creativity has always been her lifeline and it has allowed her to “see the world through different lenses. Ishmael’s love of vintage photographs, which she defines as “visually stunning,” is revealed in “Falling Leaves,” which is pictured right, featuring an African-American couple on a Sunday stroll.

Low carbon diet Did you know eating locally grown, seasonally available foods not only tastes good, but it also helps reduce the greenhouse effect of carbon emissions? Other tips are included in the Low Carbon Diet, a diet that allows consumers to reduce the global warming effects of their everyday food choices. It comes with an on-line carbon calculator to help choose environmentally-friendly foods and ingredients.
