Presentation transcript:

 Technology helps people with natural abilities strive to become even greater and more intelligent in their area of ability. The best teachers understand that by helping their students master technology, good becomes great in every aspect. They do not see technology as a crutch, but as a propellant. Those teachers have experienced and understand the power of technology themselves. They use good assessment strategies to determine the outcome of technology-based projects.

 There are many impressive technologies found in teachers classrooms. Through personal purchase, parent-teacher groups, grants, business partnerships, parental contacts, fund raising, and classroom supply budgets, these teachers possess digital cameras, clickers, sensors and classroom computer labs. Clickers are seen all around campus for the purpose of class.

 Technology gives teachers the ability to work at their own speed and not wait until scheduled parent conferences to communicate with students homes. , Web sites, online grade books, blogs, wikis, and telephone calls help assure students' timely, quality work. They post newsletters, assessment tools, assignments, grades, calendars, and discussion lists like we do at the University of Arizona through D2L. They read and respond to parent s.

 Technology does more than help students research a paper or project. It goes beyond being just another tool to find the answer to those difficult homework problems. Technology connects students to the world around them and does not limit their resources to just a classroom or local setting. No matter where you live, be it big city or small rural town, technology allows students to get a glimpse of different people and cultures and makes it possible for them to begin to gain understanding of people different from themselves.

 With all of the new technology that is created everyday it might be hard for the people who did not grow up around it to keep up with the current trends. The sign of a good educator is one who will admit when they do not have an answer or are unfamiliar with new concepts in technology. By doing this it allows the student to become the teacher and show a skill or knowledge that might otherwise remain undiscovered.

 Nowadays you cannot walk into a school or classroom and not see students with cell phones, PDA’s, or laptops. While this may create distractions at times, they can also be used to help get the students involved in what is trying to be taught. Using the tools the students already have with them, a good teacher can incorporate these into the lecture and create different scenarios, games, etc. that will keep the students involved.  For a better overview go to Pockets of PotentialPockets of Potential

 Technology isn’t just about having fun and/or entertainment. It’s about wondering and discovering new things. Before Facebook became popular among friends, the creators figured out how posts like that could happen. The creation of what we find entertaining is the real fun in technology.

 Though bad teachers cannot become better through technology, good teachers can use technology to their advantage. If a teacher is good with his students and is able to engage his students in his normal classroom setting then he can use technology to further assist him. Technology can further advance participation in the classroom.
