2 The manufacturing sector contributes about 8.7% of the total GDP in Tanzania according to 2007 Economic survey report. Estimation of sector contribution to GDP

3 Source of data Industry Census Annual Survey of Industrial production Quarterly Survey of Industrial production

4 Industry Census Last Industry Census was Conducted in 1989.

5 Annual Survey of Industrial production The survey covers 10 persons or more establishments engaging. About 700 establishment are surveyed

6 Quarterly Survey of Industrial production The survey is limited to manufacturing industry and covers almost all- manufacturing establishments engaging 50 persons or more. About 400 establishment are surveyed

7 Activity classification and the ISIC Tanzania is using ISIC Rev. 3.

8 Statistical Unit The Statistical Unit is the Establishment.

9 - Tanzania has a central register of establishment (CRE) which is updated annually. - Business survey was conducted 2008, which saved as an input to update CRE. The Register of Establishments
