CONTEXT OF PRODUCTION Examines literature in the cultural, economic, and political context in which it is written or received.

How was the novel perceive by readers in 1922? What was the cultural, societal factors that influenced the creation of this novel?

The Great Gatsby Through the Lens of Context of Reception How does our own conception of the American Dream shape our understanding of this novel? As a women who values independence and self-sufficiency, how do I feel about the character of Daisy?
