 Every 11 years or so, the sun hits a maximum limit for sunspots and then will quickly “reset” to practically zero almost like a recycling of solar material.

 Studies have shown a field of immense proportion in all sunspots.  All of these are about 1000 times more powerful than the surrounding magnetic field.  It is believed that these are caused by the overall magnetic field cooling the area of the sunspot thereby leaving an intense field around the area.
