Presentation transcript:

Who Are we? We are a group of young people who are interested in how the way Leicestershire is run and what goes on where we live. We try to make the lives for 13 to 19 year olds in Leicestershire better and try to get young peoples voices heard.

What are our ultimate goals? Eventually, we hope to reach the voices of young people who are hard to reach, like young people with disabilities, young carers, or young mothers. We are also trying to get the bad perspective of young people reduced. We hope to build the group and achieve more.

What do you get out of it? We improve the lives for other young people like us. We go on trips like going to London, to meet MP’s, or teamwork residentials like in the lake district. We take part in big youth events and help to organise them.

So what are we doing at the minute? We have been building on a very strong relationship between the vale of Belvoir youth council, and Melton Youth Council. We are also part of CYCLe, the county youth council of Leicestershire, and The Jitty, which is an organised group online who find out what goes on in the area and have big debates about anything that’s in the news, or anything that is a problem.

We have written to papers, like the Village Voice, to try and get us some publicity. We have helped Melton Youth Council hold a conference, which some of us have played major parts in. We have been on a team building residential to Brathay, in the Lake District, with Melton Youth Council and Charnwood Youth Forum. We have held a questionnaire in Belvoir High School, that we have had a good comeback with. And we now even have our own Youth Bank representative who helps to give money to youth groups around Leicestershire, for good causes.

So, although we have only really been set up for almost 2 years now, we are slowly growing and becoming more involved. Overall, we are just asking for your support to help us in anyway possible, if you have any issues with the young people of today, feel free to bring them up with us, and we would love to get more people involved in what we do. So if you or anybody you know are aged 13 to 19, or under 25, with a disability, we encourage you to join in and get hold of Adam McGlone on
