Most flat region in Texas Plentiful water supply, like the Gulf, rivers, and lakes Good for farming Flat lands makes it easy to build, so there are many large cities, like: Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Laredo. This region has the highest population. The coast and flat land make it easy to transport goods to other places A lot of cattle because lots of dry grass to graze on Oil is an important industry in this region Largest region in Texas

Coastal Climate……. Mild Climate Winters are short and warm compared to the Northeast Summers are long, hot, and humid Tornadoes, hurricanes inches of rain per year

Way of life…. The gulf coast is a major center of economic activity. The marshlands provide breeding grounds for ocean life, which make the fish and shrimp businesses very important. The port of Houston is one of the 10 busiest ports in the world.

OIL AND GAS ….. Along the coastal region you will find many oil rigs that are on-shore and off-shore…. The ocean gives easy access to ships carrying oil and gas…..

AMAZING ANIMALS OF THE COASTAL PLAINS

PLANTS The land along the Gulf Coast is very near sea level. It is hard for water to drain off the land, since there is nowhere lower for the water to go. Much of the coast of Texas is made up of marshes----wetlands where a variety of tall grasses grow.
