VIRAL MARKETING Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 Jesus Shot Analysis Prepared By: Ahmed Saied Shalan

What is Jesus Shot: It is a video realized by a social medial blogger who produced a film showed the glitch presented in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 video made by Electronic Arts (EA) sports. In 2008, A social media blogger posted a video of digital version of Tiger woods in youtube and it showed the glitch of the game. The Video ironicly and unintentionally turned the game default into a feature called “The Jesus Shot” referred to Jesus walking on water according to the new testament. The Video gained huge popularity with around 1,283,572 views.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 Jesus Shot The Video: eR-f8ZA eR-f8ZA The video showed the glitch in the game as a feature and the film ended by hole in one.

EA Response: After one year, EA responded by launching “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09” version that showed the real tiger woods walking on a very shallow pond and managing the same wonderful shot shown in the first video. 1Vw2kY 1Vw2kY The popularity of this video exceeded 6 millions views.

Conclusion and outcomes: Viral Marketing is a very efficient tool that creates/enhances brand loyalty. The effect of social media by utilization of any glitch can have a massive impact on brand and image and correct the negative impact. Social media is a very powerful tool for marketing yet it needs to be very well managed. Responses should be studied carefully and appear in the right time and right place (Social media) and must exceed the expectations and surprise the consumers as to be effective. References:
