INTRODUCTION
Definition: – Very useful tool – Facilitate team work – Allow storage of files up to 1GB Only students from the College of Information and College of medicine have access to it. Plan: – Implementation of the content collection tab via Blackboard to all the students at FSU
INTRODUCTION Problem: – Most students are complaining on the usability of the content collection tab. Survey: – We interviewed 65 students from the class LIS3353 on November 8, Solution: – After interpreting the result of the survey we came up with 3 main recommendations. Improve the navigation Integrate a calendar Set permissions to web folder
OVERVIEW Findings & Analysis Recommendations Conclusion
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
Began by familiarizing ourselves with the Content Collection Quickly identified a number of features lacking in the Content Collection A great concept, that can be even greater! But what does everyone else think? –Wanted to see what others thought –Conducted survey of 65 IT students in LIS3353 –Asked the following questions…
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS THE SURVEY 1.How familiar are you with the Content Collection System? 2.How easy do you think it is to use the Content Collection System? 3.How effective do you feel the current Navigation of the Content Collection System is? 4.What do you like about the Content Collection System? 5.What don’t you like about the Content Collection System?
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS THE SURVEY One of first things we looked at were dislikes –What can we improve?
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS DISLIKES OF CONTENT COLLECTION SYSTEM # of Students
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS THE SURVEY We’re on to something! Obviously the usability is of the utmost importance Secondly, the navigation needs to be fixed –90 % of those surveyed said the CCS was hard to use –86% said the Navigation was hard to use –These are IT students, what will happen when the general public uses the CCS? So, what can we do to fix it?
RECOMMENDATIONS
Improved Navigation allowing faster and more efficient navigation through files. Improved integration of Content Collection System with Blackboard through a calendar module improving user experience and value. Improved permissions settings in the Web Folder enabling quicker and more efficient permissions settings.
RECOMMENDATIONS IMPROVED NAVIGATION The current navigation is confusing and hard to use.
RECOMMENDATIONS IMPROVED NAVIGATION Prototype Navigation
RECOMMENDATIONS CALENDAR MODULE Currently the calendar goes unused by most We want to change that What is the calendar?

SUMMARY
IN CONCLUSION… Content Collection is a very useful tool for both Students and Faculty, which allows file storage and sharing among peers. However, Content Collection lacks usability. Needs features such as an enhanced navigation system, a calendar module, and more efficient methods of setting file/folder permissions. If improvements in usability are made, then Content Collection will be more appealing to the users.
