In this picture I was giving out information about how people can sponsor a child and how it assists them directly and meets them at their specific need. I learned a lot about the needs all over the world. So many people need aid and, although we as Americans have ample resources, do not give nearly enough to the betterment of global life. This unique experience hit home for me This unique experience hit home for me When I served in this area I had just returned from serving the needy in China. I was privileged enough to have been able to do some more service at one of the 200 Second Harvest Food Banks nation wide. I was privileged enough to have been able to do some more service at one of the 200 Second Harvest Food Banks nation wide. Their objective is to not only distribute food but to make the need for food more widely known amongst Americans. Their objective is to not only distribute food but to make the need for food more widely known amongst Americans. At the Second Harvest Food Bank I did a lot of consolidating of food items. At the Second Harvest Food Bank I did a lot of consolidating of food items. Although the work I did was not strenuous nor was it lengthy, I found myself struggling with the lack of interaction. I learned that sometimes it is necessary to get out of my comfort zone and experience something that I might not choose. Service Learning Through my service learning experience I learned so many things Through my service learning experience I learned so many things I learned that there are countless needs in the world that require volunteer attention from those of us who have it all (Americans). I also learned that service learning is often times out side one’s comfort zone. It’s easy to help when the conditions are ideal but sometimes it takes some discomfort and some sacrifice to make an impact.
