Who are the “Progressives”? NOT a political party Included democrats, republicans, other parties, etc. Reacted to the effects of the era’s rapid industrialization, immigration, and urbanization. Many believed that private charity could not do enough to improve the lives of the industrial poor. Gov’t intervention needed Drove political debate to plan for progress. The Progressive Era (~ )
