The Growing Indian Maritime Sector USD 2.6 Bn invested in Ports and Shipping sector between 2011 and 2014 Seaborne trade has grown at twice the global growth rate of 3.3% Cargo traffic at Indian ports has doubled to 1 billion tonnes per annum from FY 2005 - 2015 Container trade has grown at 6.5% - higher than world average of 5.4% 150 + projects for investment identified in Indian maritime sector Opportunities for investment of USD 19 Billion in Inland Waterway development and USD 50 Billion in Port-led Development under ‘Sagarmala’

Focus sectors for Investment 1. ‘Sagarmala’ - New Port Development and Port Modernization Greenfield major ports at Vadhavan (Maharashtra), Sagar Island (West Bengal), Paradip Outer Harbour and Potential locations in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Trans-shipment Hubs at Enayam (Tamil Nadu) and Vizhinjam (Kerala) Port Mordernization: Increasing draft at Kamarajar (Ennore), Paradip and Mormugao Ports to 18m 500 MMTPA port capacity augmentation in Major Ports by 2025 2. Connectivity and Logistics New 100+ road and rail connectivity projects Development of 7 multi-modal logistic hubs in C’garh, K’taka, Odisha, Rajasthan, UP, Uttarakhand and WB ‘Jal Marg Vikas’ project for capacity augmentation for navigation and shipping in River Ganga: NW-1 (1620 km) Development of 111 National Waterways

Shipping Opportunity for transporting around 160 MMTPA of coal from Odisha and 80 MMTPA of steel, cement, food grains etc. through coastal shipping Opportunity for development of low draft barges and vessels (1500 – 2000 DWT) for transportation of bulk cargo through inland waterways 4. Industrialization Development of 2 marine clusters proposed at Saurashtra and Chennai/ Ennore with facilities for ship building, repair and recycling Production of LNG vessels and offshore platforms at existing shipyards Smart Port Industrial Cities at Kandla and Paradip Development of FTWZ at Ennore & Cochin. Port-based SEZ at JNPT

Other areas of Investment Development of 78 lighthouses as tourist hubs Development of cruise terminals at Mormugao, Chennai, Mumbai, Chennai and Kochi 135 MW of solar power projects to be operationalized by 2020 at 8 Major Ports Development of 50 MW of wind energy projects by 2020 in 3 Major Ports Use of biofuel in port operations and shipping
