From James Kennedy

How variable is the timing to maturity?

To some extent there is an innate timing to maturation which is correlated with bloom.

Can treatments effect this timing?

ED berries reach Brix levels equal to the maximum in control berries days earlier. ED berries reach anthocyanin levels equal to the maximum in control berries 30+ days earlier.

Yes, but…. Can treatments effect this timing?

Treatments can effect timing or quantity. How does treatment timing effect fruit...?

What is Will’s ( Will Drayton ) window?

Treatment effects are established quickly after the onset of ripening.

Early (prever.) vs. late (postver.) water deficit ED berries reach anthocyanin levels equal to the maximum in control berries 30+ days earlier. ED berries reach Brix levels equal to the maximum in control berries days earlier. LD… days earlier. LD… days earlier. How does treatment timing effect fruit...?

Early thinning produces increased fruit uniformity.

Early thinning produces more sensory differences in the resulting wines.

Treatment effects are established quickly after the onset of ripening. Early treatments appear to have a more profound effect on fruit at maturity.

How are the effects of early water deficit on anthocyanin composition realized? Increased anthocyanins were established/maintained for almost 2 months after the release of water deficit
