Who is Eligible?  Arkansas public school teachers of science in grades 5 – 8 in schools that reside in the following counties are eligible for a Minigrant Arkansas Benton Boone Bradley Clay Cleveland Crawford Crittenden Dallas Drew Franklin Grant Hot Spring Independence Jackson Lafayette Lawrence Logan Lonoke Madison Nevada Newton Perry Pike Poinsett Polk Prairie Randolph Saline Scott Searcy Stone Union Van Buren Washington Woodruff Yell

Project Plan:  Describe the plan for hands-on activities and the corresponding SLE that the purchased materials will support.  Single spaced – 10 font  Should include : Goals & objectives and how they align with frameworks How planned activities correlate with the curriculum and meet the learning needs of the students Planned activities are substantive, interesting, inquiry based and incorporate involvement of students

Metrics & Evaluation:  Describe how these activities are expected to result in a measurable change in students’ knowledge bases and interest in Science. The changes you expect to occur and how the changes will address the needs described in the Project Plan Your plans to determine if the expected outcomes did happen as a result of the activities and how the changes will be measured. Be sure to identify how you expect to assess outcomes of both individual activities and overall attitudes.

Learning Needs  Describe how the activities are expected to meet the learning needs of all participating students.  Describe how you will differentiate for students of various needs.

Additional Information:  Provide additional information that will further explain why your proposal should be funded.  May include need based on demographics, disabilities, or disadvantages.  Describe training that you may have had and how you need materials to support these new lessons.  Set yourself apart from the rest in this section.

Itemized Budget:  Add justification when needed  Be specific  Must be consumables or science kits  Should tie into what is being discussed in narrative  Be sure to include shipping and tax if applicable

Deadline:  September 10, 2009  Submitted online at ant.html ant.html

Awards:  $500 per grade level (max 3/teacher)  Grades 5,6,7,8 – public schools  Consumable science materials  Kits permitted if grade appropriate, standards-based, meets frameworks  NO textbooks, papergoods, instruments

Evaluation process  Multiple teachers within the same school district may be awarded mini-grants. For example, 2-3 teachers within a district all teaching 7th & 8th grade science may all be funded.  One teacher can be awarded multiple grants but for different grade levels only.

Reporting (when funded)  Final report at end of school year  Summarize all science activities supported by the grant Strengths Weaknesses  Due date to be determined
