2 Purposes of DRA2/EDL2 Fall Assessment In the fall, find the students’ highest Instructional Level, in order to: Assess students’ strengths and needs Inform whole group, small group, and individual instruction Use it as a first sort for determining interventions Match students with texts Small Group Instruction/Guided Reading = Instructional Book Bags = Independent (Note: Students’ Instructional levels will usually be higher than their Independent levels.)
