North Bayshore- Future

Communities are impacted – They are built out….! Companies want to grow in the region but how and where can they expand? How promote job growth when no one can get there? What are some of the Challenges?

CHALLENGES FOR COMMUNITIES Communities finding it difficult to keep up: –Housing and affordability - Longer commutes –Education - K-12; Higher education –Transportation – Trips continue to increase; few solutions –Impact on Infrastructures – sewer /water/energy/communications –Open Space – Preserve and increase –Sea Level Rise – Region wide issue –Environmental –Quality of Life Result of this trend - Growing “tension” between community, companies and developers – How do we address?

How Can these Challenges be Resolved? More intense use of existing space Higher FAR.35 – 1.0 or Greater Building Heights Increased density for residential Create more open space Cluster residential/commercial around transit Heroic efforts for Transit Create linkages and integrate development into the community; more public private partnerships. Sustainability

Proposed project will consume LESS total energy than existing buildings! Sustainable Energy Source: TMG Presentation

What is on the Horizon Eco Districts Public private partnerships – the sharing of resources Create off the grid opportunities Transit Management Agencies (TMA)– Shared Transit Opportunities Sustainable Management Agencies (SMA) - Power, Water, Communications Create More Open Space.

CONCLUSION Built Out Environment Tension Between Community, Developer & Businesses Numerous Challenges Potential Solutions Higher FAR, SMA, TOD Transit is critical Finally what is your Vision for the future? What are your ideas for keeping communities flexible and adaptable in this constantly changing environment…Our Success depends on it!
