Overview of WorkKeys WorkKeys is a computer based CD program created by ACT. WorkKeys is a skill assessment program that measures “real world” skills that employers believe are critical for job success. WorkKeys is given to individuals in any occupation, skilled or professional and at any level of education.

Job Analysis and WorkKeys The WorkKeys job profiling component offers concrete ways for a company to evaluate the skills needed for specific jobs while describing those needs to the facilitators. Employers use these scores to determine if an individual is hirable, provide additional training opportunities and program development.

WorkKeys Skill Levels WorkKeys has 7 levels of skill attainment. Each level explains the skills needed at that level. In addition there are suggestions on how to improve a score.

Training and WorkKeys WorkKeys enables educators, individuals and employers to identify skill gaps and guide training decisions to improve these scores when needed.

Training continued… Training resources are available online, through ACT help centers, WorkKeys partner sites, One-stop-career centers, Workforce Investment Act centers and school to work consortiums.

Conclusion WorkKeys is a new and innovative way in which employers can find and retain qualified workers. It gives the employee and idea of where their skill in their profession. Employers are also able to use WorkKeys as a learning and training tool to keep the skilled employees they already have. There are several categories in which both the employee and employer can utilize either professional or personally.
