My Very Hungry Caterpillar by Burnette Woody

Once upon a time there was a little caterpillar Once upon a time there was a little caterpillar. He was crawling along and thought to himself, “I’m hungry.”

2 Pears 1 apple As the caterpillar was walking he came across one apple and two pears and begin to eat through them.

3 plums After the caterpillar finished eating through the apple and pears, he thought “I’m still hungry.” So he kept on walking and came across three plums and four strawberries. 4 strawberries

Then he found five oranges and begin munching through them.

Even after eating the five oranges, the caterpillar was STILL HUNGRY! He kept walking and found one piece of cake, a ice cream cone, a pickle, a piece of cheese, some salami, a lollipop, a piece of pie, a sausage link, a cupcake, and one piece of watermelon and he ate through them all!

After eating all that food, the very hungry caterpillar was no longer hungry. In fact, because he’d eaten so much he had a tummy ache; and he was no longer a small caterpillar he was a BIG CATERPILLAR!

So, the help get rid of his tummy ache the caterpillar begin to eat through one green leaf. After eating through the nice green leaf, the caterpillar felt much better. Now it was time for him to go to sleep.

So for three weeks the caterpillar slept in his chrysalis.

After three weeks in his chrysalis, the caterpillar became a beautiful butterfly.
