What is GNMS? GNMS is a tabletop, multi-touch, computing surface. This surface will primarily be used for entertainment purposes but can conceivably be used for anything that a regular computer is used.
Block Diagram
Micro-controller Atmel AT32UC3B164 User input for projector brightness, On/Off, audio volume via GPIOs. Transmits user input to the motherboard via USB or COM port. Accepts button inputs to control the projector via IR LED. Input from external temperature sensor via ATD to determine fan speed.
PCB-Strategy Target size 60 in 2 No size constraints due to packaging Allows separation of noisy parts Eases routing concerns Also allows easy separation of different voltage levels (5V, 12V, 3.3V 1.8V) Eventually get most, if not all the microprocessor pins hooked up to headers Traces may be too big?
Power A RaidMax RX-380K will be used as the power supply. 5V from the 5-pin Molex will be regulated to 3.3V to power the micro-controller. LM361 used to convert from 5V to 3.3V. Internal voltage converter on microcontroller will convert 3.3V to 1.8V for logic unit of processor. Two separate12V Molex will power the fans.
Fan Control 12V Molex will power the fans. 2N3904 BJT used to control fan speeds from PWM BJT is opto isolated from rest of circuit Fan speed is determined from temperature sensors
Remote IR LED Control We will use a single IR LED to control the projector Microprocessor accepts input from a variety of buttons and outputs the correct IR wavelengths to control LED Have successfully captured IR signals on oscilloscope, still need to replicate on PWM. Controlled by 2N3904 BJT
