Most marital fights are generally based on the issue of money, or lack of it. So, a decrease in income also leads to an increase in fights, and then divorce. As education rises, income rises, marriage does not increase household finances if the spouse with the education does not work. In American, College graduates,, are more likely t to be married than with less education — 69% for adults with a college degree versus 56% for those who are not a college graduates. A higher percentage of young adults (31%) without a high school diploma live in poverty, compared to the 24% of young people who finished high school. Individuals with disadvantaged social origins stand to gain the most from college in the labor market, they may in turn gain the most from college in the marriage market.
