BCG Matrix

Business unit - BCG matrix 1 The BCG Matrix|BCG matrix (aka B.C.G. analysis, BCG-matrix, Boston Box, Boston Matrix, Boston Consulting Group analysis, portfolio diagram) is a chart that had been created by Bruce Henderson for the Boston Consulting Group in 1968 to help corporations with analyzing their business units or product lines. This helps the company allocate resources and is used as an analytical tool in brand marketing, product management, strategic management, and portfolio analysis.

Strategic business unit - BCG matrix 1 The BCG Matrix|BCG matrix (aka B.C.G. analysis, BCG-matrix, Boston Box, Boston Matrix, Boston Consulting Group analysis, portfolio diagram), a chart designed by Bruce Henderson for the Boston Consulting Group in 1968, may help corporations to analyze their business units or product lines. This helps the company allocate resources; brand marketing, product management, strategic management, and portfolio analysis can use it as an analytical tool.

Menu engineering - Marketing (price and promotion) 1 By using guest demand (also called the menu mix) and gross profit margins, the relative performance of each menu item is determined, and assigned one of the following terms (based on the Growth- share matrix|BCG Matrix):

Growth–share matrix - Relative market share 1 As a result of 'economies of scale' (a basic assumption of the BCG Matrix), it is assumed that these earnings will grow faster the higher the share

Growth–share matrix - Market growth rate 1 This is outside the range normally considered in BCG Matrix work, which may make application of this form of analysis unworkable in many markets

Growth–share matrix - Critical evaluation 1 One study ([ Slater and Zwirlein, 1992]) which looked at 129 firms found that those who follow portfolio planning models like the BCG matrix had lower shareholder returns.

Bruce Henderson - The growth-share matrix 1 The growth-share matrix or BCG Matrix, as it came to be known, is a managerial tool used to visually represent a company's portfolio. It is a two-by-two matrix, which divides the dimensions of relative market share (x axis) and market growth (y axis) into four quadrants. Individual business are represented with circles having an area proportional to the size of the business itself.

Strategic planning software 1 Examples include Stella and iThinkhttp:// solutions.com/pages.php?pageid=25 based upon Peter Senge's book, The Fifth Discipline, BCG Matrix for Brand Portfolio Analysishttp:// bcg-matrix-for-brand-portfolio-analysis-udwwqypf/ Net Promoter Score software, ns-overview/software/ Management Software Associates' Competitive Strategy (which modeled strategic cost drivers such as learning curves, impact of scale, impact of complexity, economies of scope and value), Portfolio Analysis and New Product Modeling using viral models.
