The Topic Sentence… Usually the first sentence. Lets the reader know what the paragraph will be about.

Good Topic Sentence… My favorite TV Show is The Big Bang Theory. Cancun is a great vacation destination. The teachers teaching this class are the best teacher ever! It is important to eat your green vegetables.

Bad Topic Sentence… The Red Hot Chili Peppers is a popular rock group because they have been around for 20 years and they sell a lot of CDs and concert tickets. There are two reasons why your teachers are a great teachers and two reasons why your teachers are awful teachers. Clouds are white.
