Eyepiece Place where objects are viewed through, magnifies an image 10 times (10x)

Body Tube Separates the lens in the eyepiece from the objective lenses below. Helps the image to “clear” from being blurry.

Revolving Nosepiece Holds the objective lenses above the stage and rotates so that all lenses may be used

Objective Lens Lens that magnifies the image. High Power objective is the largest and magnifies 40x. Medium is 10x. Low power is the smallest and magnifies 4x.

Arm Supports the body above the stage. Always carry and move the microscope by the arm.

Stage Supports the object/specimen being viewed.

Stage Clips Holds a slide in place on the stage.

Diaphragm Used to adjust the amount of light passing through the slide and into the objective lens.

Coarse Adjustment/Focus Knob used to focus the image when it is viewed through the low-power lens. *Always start with the Coarse Focus*

Fine Adjustment Knob that is used to focus the image of an object when it is viewed through the high power

Light Reflects through the stage in order to see the image

Base Supports the microscope. Use the base to carry the microscope.

Always carry with 2 hands (arm and base) Only use lens paper for cleaning Do not force knobs Always store covered Keep in center of table, clear of objects

Place the Slide on the Microscope Use Stage Clips Start with Low Power Look into the Eyepiece Use the Coarse Focus Use Fine Focus Then adjust to High Power

Follow steps to focus using low power Click the nosepiece to the longest objective Do NOT use the Coarse Focusing Knob Use the Fine Focus Knob to bring the slide into focus
