Presentation transcript:

P is For… Current Word: Passion Your Word: Why? I would keep the word Passion because you truly need to be passionate about what you are teaching. If you are not passionate about your job, the students will not look forward to your class and it will be hard to maintain focus and control over the class.

I is For… Current Word: Immersion Your Word: Intensity Why? I like the word immersion and what it stands for in the mnemonic, but I really like the word intensity. I feel that students like to be challenged and a teacher who brings intensity to the class usually can get the focus and respect from their students and other faculty members.

r is For… Current Word: Rapport Your Word: Why? I feel that successful teachers gain rapport with their students by going to their sporting events, band concerts, dances, and other school activities. Students like to build personal relationships with their teachers. I feel that I was more willing to go to class and do work for a teacher who showed interest in my personal life.

a is For… Current Word: Ask and analyze Your Word: Why? I want students to ask questions about my class. I also want to give students answers that they may have to think about. Figuring the answer out on your own is one of the best ways of remembering. Personally, when I figure out how to do something by myself, I feel more accomplished and more apt to remember the solution.

t is For… Current Word: transformation Your Word: Why? I want students to transform into good listeners and communicators before they leave my class. Communication is a major part of everyday life in the workforce. I also want students to transform into problem solvers; the answers will not always be directly in front of them and they will need to learn how to figure out the answer on their own.

e is For… Current Word: enthusiasm Your Word: Why? Nothing gets a student fired up quite like the teacher being enthusiastic about the subject they are teaching. Whenever someone is excited, you can not help but be excited and interested in what makes them feel this way. Being enthusiastic is a great way to keep students focused and on track.
