Glittering Generalities  Words of praise for a product or person tending to over exaggerate

Name-calling  Trash-talking another product or person; criticizing another company to promote their own

Testimonial  A famous person recommends a product; also political endorsements

Plain Folks  Appealing to regular people's values like family or patriotism

Bandwagon  An appeal to be part of a group

Repetition  A message in the advertisement is repeated over and over again to reinforce the product
