Step #1 Place your data in order

Step #2 Find the median. (middle)

Step #3 Find the upper quartile. (the middle of the upper data half)

Step #4 Find the lower quartile. (the middle of the lower data half)

Step #5 Draw a number line which includes all data pieces. Make sure that you evenly space and number the line Notice how the data and the number line don’t match up.

Step #6 Draw the box using the upper and lower quartiles

Step #7 Draw the whiskers using the highest (upper extreme) and lowest (lower extreme) piece of data

Step #8 Draw the median Make sure that you line up each part of the graph on the number line.
