Presentation transcript:

Homework hand in time You need to get your homework out of your bag and place it on the desk in front of you, if you have not done your homework get your planner out – I don’t want to hear any excuses Your homework was to find 5 charities and their registered numbers, there are S points available for extra effort.

Four Pics One Word Starter What word connects these four pictures? UVRAE ONPDI

Unpaid work Lesson objective: To understand the difference between paid and unpaid work

Answer to starter The word was ‘Unpaid’ Make a list of all the different jobs that you could do, that you would be paid for! – You have 2 minutes and there are s points for the person who gets the longest accurate list!

Alternatives to paid work Not all work however is paid Can you think of any types of work that might be unpaid? Write another list for the different types of unpaid work you can think of – Again you have 2 minutes and there are S points for the longest accurate list!

You could have come up with Home carers looking after; – Young children – Ill relatives Volunteers – for charities, to gain experience Leisure activities – sports or hobbies Study or training – e.g. Via internet or at a local college, work experience Compulsory activities – e.g. Community service order, supervision order Caring for elderly family/neighbours

Task Using the outline of a person on moodle, I want you to fill in the boxes explaining the type of person that you think might be interested in unpaid work. Think about; – Age – Gender – Occupation – Characteristics

Lets look in more detail There are a number of different companies and organisations that specialise in unpaid work, lets look at a few of them. RNLI Carers Trust Children in Need As we are watching/reading these, I want you to think carefully about the different unpaid activities that are happening, be prepared to share your ideas and make notes at the end Google Children in Need and its the first website that appears

Fact sheet I now want you to create a factsheet that explains in detail one of the three organisations that we just looked at In your factsheet you should include, information about; – The company (including any registered charity numbers) – What they do – what is their purpose – What unpaid activities/work they undertake – Number of volunteers – Their overall aim and purpose – Who they help – How much money they have raised over the last few years Plus any other information that you also feel is relevant
