Biomes By: Jon Wilson

Temperate Rain Forest Temperate rain forests have moderate temperatures. They receive more than 300 cm of precipitation each year. Plants include; Cedars, Redwoods, and Douglas Firs. Animals include; deer, woodpeckers, squirrels ect.

Tropical rain forests temperature is very HOT and humid. Tropical rain forests are also WET they get over 350 cm per year. They have lots of different exotic plants and animals. Tropical Rain Forest

Desert A desert gets less than 25 cm. a year. The evaporation is greater than the rainfall “precipitation.” The Temperature is very HOT in most deserts but in some deserts like the Gobi in Asia get below freezing temperatures. Even Antarctica is a desert. The plants include cacti and weeds. Animals include scorpians and lizards even some elf owls.

Grasslands Grasslands get 25 to 75 cm. a year. Plants include; Tall grass, scattered trees. Temperature is hot and dry. The Savanna is a grassland that gets as much as 120 cm. a year. Animals include; Cheetahs, buffalo, lions, gazelles ect.

Deciduous Forest Deciduous forests get at least 50cm of rain each year. Temperatures are mild. Plants include: Oak and maple trees. Animals include: Mammals like chipmunks, deer, black bears ect.

Boreal Forest Boreal forests get less than 40 cm. of rain a year. Temperatures are cold. Plants include Coniferous trees including; Firs, spruce, and hemlock. Animals include; Lynxes, moose, red squirrels, snow show hares, wolves, and great horned owls.

Tundra Tundra temperatures are extremely cold and dry. Tundra get less than 25 cm of rain a year. Plants include; mosses, grasses, shrubs, and a few dwarf trees such as willows. Animals include; caribou, foxes, wolves, and arctic hares.
