Excel Add-ins New Features and Uses
What are the add-ins? PI-Datalink – Reads (and writes) data PI-SMT – Create and edit tags PI-BatchView – Search for batches and aliases
What do they look like? PI-Datalink Used for shift reports, data analysis, lab input, and other rich applications.
PI-SMT (System Manager’s Tools) Create and edit PI tags locally or remotely using a spreadsheet.
PI-BatchView Search for production runs using batch ids, product names, or equipment names.
PI-Datalink 1.8 New Features “Time Filtered” Function enables a time total on any performance equation. Local Digital State Caching speeds data queries Additional support for extended value type
PI-SMT Demo You can now select multiple attributes at a time.
PI-SMT Using the PI Networking Subsystem (PINS) you can use PI-SMT from a remote client computer. This requires NT and Office 97 or later. We will eventually support Windows 98 and Windows 2000. The PINS is installed automatically as an auto-starting service. It uses few resources. This also allows remote PIConfig sessions.
You can import tags using tag lists from the tag search.
PI-BatchView Demo The module database allows easy creation of aliases that will be used by the BatchView add-in. The filtering of batches is context sensitive when it comes to aliases and the units they are defined in.
Other Very Useful Things The BatchView ActiveX control is sometimes a more flexible way to build reports in Excel… …and it’s not that much harder to use. You can use Excel’s VBA to launch ProcessBook display OLE objects within Excel.
