Liverpool's climate is typical of the United Kingdom; highly unpredictable with a mixture of rainy, sunny, windy and cloudy days. Summers are usually warm and sunny, while winters are cold and wet. Temperatures average around 68F (20C) in summer and 39F Liverpool features a changeable, temperate climate and can be found in the county of Merseyside, on the northwestern coast of England. The weather is Liverpool is influenced by its appealing waterfront setting, standing alongside the River Mersey, close to the Liverpool Bay and nearby Irish Sea. Social Group: The elderly residents of our local community We started our research about facilities available to the elderly in our community. To begin with, six pupils volunteered to visit two leisure facilities that offered services as well as activities to the local residents. Using a questionnaire, their role was to find answers about what was on offer for elderly people through the week. We also left questionnaires for visitors to complete. Meanwhile the remainder of pupils in our class researched the locality using the internet. They identified where places were including how to find them on a map.

Social Group: The elderly residents of our local community After two weeks we collected the surveys at the two locations: Local Library Methodist Centre Only a small selection of questionnaires had been completed by elderly residents, so we decided to post some through doors of local people; unfortunately, none of these were returned. In a final attempt to collect data we visited the Methodist Centre at a time when we knew the elderly were available. We spoke to them about their hobbies and interests.

Whereas Tai Chi and Yoga were the least popular.

Social Group: The elderly residents of our local community We explored the most popular activity choices: Dance, Computer skills and photography. Discussing the organisation and the realistic financial issues we realised how unrealistic it was for us to organise and run our own activities for the elderly. Therefore we decided to help a local community centre with advertising the leisure time activities and learning courses they offer in the local neighbourhood. We will look at the current design of their leaflets and how to make them more eye catching, as well as where best to distribute them.
