Danielle’s glimpse at what life will be like as a future leader Agriculture Future of America 40 Chances Leadership Development Program

“Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire” – St. Catherine of Sienna “ I began to realize how important it is to be a enthusiast in life.. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is not good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be” -Roald Dahl

“You can’t lead if you don’t understand your followers” Book Review- Fred Factor Key leadership traits- Make the most of your situation Make a difference even if small in someone else’s day. Anyone can be a someone

“You can’t lead if you don’t understand your followers” Biggest Correlation between book & interview – Humility – Trying to accommodate and empower others – Realization without others you can’t do much alone

“You can’t lead if you don’t understand your followers” Key takeaways from the book Don’t feel like you can’t make a difference because of your position Make it a point to try to make everyone’s day a little brighter

“You can’t lead if you don’t understand your followers” Great leaders I have interacted with – Humble – Looking out for the groups needs – Looking for ways to assist without taking over

Age has wisdom and experience Leader Interview: Daniel Kittle Vice President of Research and Development of Dow AgroSciences “Just because you have a plan now don’t be disappointed if it takes a different route.”

Age has wisdom and experience Leader Interview: Julian Lenis Soybean Breeder at Dow AgroSciences “Find a good mentor, someone who is invested in you, and find an environment that fits your needs”

Age has wisdom and experience Leader Interview: Brian Diers Professor and Soybean Breeding Program lead “When working with a group, figure out their strengths and how to relate to them, just because you do it one way doesn’t mean everyone does.”

Age has wisdom and experience Surprising aspect: Being in a leadership position- instead of seeing it as being a leader looked as if a job to empower and help others reach success.

Age has wisdom and experience Experience is the best education Don’t be afraid to try things you don’t think you will like Plans always change, but with hard work opportunities are always present

The only thing left to do is spread my wings and fly This opportunity assisted me in: Self-evaluation of what I want to achieve Evaluation of how I value my co-workers and student peers and their contributions How can I continue to improve Motivated me to make a difference through leadership opportunities
