Morning Procedures

Get to School on Time! If it is after 8:10 a.m., YOU are late!

Eating Breakfast If you are going to eat breakfast at school, you must eat BEFORE you come to class. You may NOT drop off your backpack before breakfast – go straight to the cafeteria!

Before the 8:15a.m. Announcements. 1. Unpack your backpack and place it in your cubby (PLACE YOUR FOLDER IN TOP OF CUBBY) 2. Unstack your chair 3. Homework should be in the HW pocket in your folder 4. Get water 5. Go to the restroom 6. Start your bell work

Daily Procedures

Classroom Signals ***Instead of raising your hand and waiting for a teacher to call on you, you will use these hand signals so the teacher doesn’t have to stop teaching. - “ W ” for water - “ R ” for restroom - “ T ” for tissue

Clicker procedures 1 click- Get quiet 2 clicks- Heads Down

Questions and Answers Raise your hand quietly I will only call on QUIET hands Think time When someone is called on, put your hand down and actively listen to what is said

Water Procedures Fill water bottle to ¾ full in the morning before 8:15AM Use hand signals to ask during class Walk quietly to the water fountain Refill bottle to ¾ full Quickly and quietly return to your seat and continue working

Paper Notebook (lined) paper is in drawer You may get paper as you need it. If it is during class you need to ask permission On every assignment, your heading should have: Name Number Date

Walking in Line Wait to line up until instructed to do so Number order with leader as first number Walk silently down golden path Arms at your side Stand directly behind the person in front of you – straight line! Step to right of path to pass. Please enter and exit building through right side doors.

Lunch Follow line procedures Use hand sanitizer after entering cafeteria Only 5 students at tray area. Stand in line silently while awaiting your turn Speak to staff in a clear, polite voice. Use your manners (please, thank you, excuse me) Stop at computer to enter your lunch number Sit in first available seat- no saving or skipping spots Girls sit on left, boys sit on right side of table Fill bench with 4 students Quiet voices at table Push tray forward, put head down when finished Clean-up your table area and floor, close milk cartons Lunch room teacher will dismiss by gender or table- listen for instructions Stay in line. Dump tray in trash. Walk down sidewalk to your playground on outside days, classroom on inside days.

Recess Follow line procedures to door/gate Stand quietly and await permission to enter playground Slides are for sliding down on backside only Do not stand on or jump from bars, benches, or equipment All rocks, sticks, grass, and dirt stay on the ground Be nice to all classmates Listen for line up signal, follow line up procedures

Specials P.E. (Physical Education) Line-up in number order CATS rules will be followed Bring your lunch MAKE ME PROUD!

What do I do when I’m finished with my class work??? Read a book Work on word study assignments iPads (with teachers permission) Work on other assignments MOST IMPORTANTLY: Don’t disturb others!!!!

Classroom Library Will go over these procedures later in reading class.

Homework Reading every night for 20 minutes- fill in log 4 nights Math, spelling and language homework in weekly packet Receive Friday, due following Friday unless noted at bottom of reading log

Absent … Now what? It’s YOUR responsibility to check with the teacher if you were absent- papers will be in top of cubby You have ONE day for each day you were absent to make up the work

Visitors or Guests in the Classroom Sit quietly- leader will greet at door and seat visitor if needed Continue working as you normally would Be polite and respectful IMPRESS THEM!!!

Fire Drills Stop everything immediately Quietly line up Exit through the door and walk toward the playground Stay with class at all times Wait until you are called back inside Walk quickly and quietly back to the classroom Return to the classroom task

Dismissal Procedures

Summary Statement Written on back of homework log sheet every day Summary statement should begin with one of the following statements: Today I learned … Today I loved … I want to know more about … This will help your teachers and parents understand things you liked, learned, and want to know more about in school.

Backpacks With permission, get your backpack, library book, and folder from the cubby at the end of the day Return to your seat Stack chair once you are packed Sit on classroom rug when finished

Clean your Area Clean your area EVERYDAY!!! Straighten the materials in your desk Clear your desk Clean the floor around your desk Put any materials you have away *** Ask yourself – Does the room look as good as it did this morning???

Leaving for the Day-Car Line up at door when your group is called Car riders go to Car room, sit quietly and listen for name and number to be called. Walk to teacher at your number on the side walk to be placed in your vehicle. In order to leave, you MUST give the teacher a high 5 so they know you have left!

Leaving for the Day-Bus Line up at door when your group is called Bus riders go to bus dismissal room for your grade level, sit quietly. Bus riders will exit rooms by grade level PreK- 2 nd, youngest first. 3 rd -5 th will dismiss by rooms after younger students have exited. Continue line procedures throughout departure. Once on bus sit quietly following bus rules until at your destination.

Leaving for the Day-walker & afterschool Line up at door when your group is called Walkers go to Mrs. Stipes. When buses leave, walk across playground and to your destination. Pay careful attention to traffic. Afterschool students go to the 3 rd grade classrooms. Wait quietly for your afterschool teacher.
