Pulse Smartpen by Livescribe Pulse Smartpen by Livescribe Erica White – EDUC 674 Professor Klein Assistive and Learning for Students with Disabilities and Special Needs.

Product Description  [New] Paper-Based Computer Pen aka Pulse Smartpen by Livescribe.  This technology records and links audio to what a person writes using the pen and special paper. It enables the user to take notes while simultaneously recording someone( e.g., a teacher) speaking. The user can later listen to any section of his notes by touching the pen to his corresponding handwriting or diagrams.

Product Description Includes:  Audio JackPlug - your 3D Recording Headset (included in every purchase) into the audio jack to enable enhanced far-field recording. Each earbud in the headset has an embedded microphone that creates a new standard in recording quality in large rooms or noisy environments.  Microphone- combined with on-board noise-canceling software enables the smartpen to record crisp, clear sound.  OLED Display- makes it easy to navigate and interact with Pulse applications.  Built in speaker - plays back your recorded audio and provides audio feedback for smartpen applications. Tap on the volume buttons on your dot paper to control speaker volume.  USB Connector - recharges Pulse and transfers notes and audio to your PC. Pulse magnetically docks into the USB Mobile Charging Cradle (included). This also allows smartpen users install new applications from Livescribe.com.

Product Description Includes Cont’  High-speed infrared camera with Dot Positioning System (DPS) - tracks everything you write, tap, or draw on Livescribe Dot Paper. The DPS not only enables printed controls for recording and playback on each page, but also interactive paper-based applications.  Ink Carthridge- Three ink cartridges and a stylus cartridge are included with every Pulse smartpen purchase.

Features  The Pulse Smartpen records and links audio to what you write so you'll never miss a word in a lecture or meeting again  Listen to your recordings by tapping on what you wrote  Search and share your notes from your computer  1GB of memory captures approximately 100 hrs. of recorded audio  Digital Pen for PC  Other Features Include 1GB Memory  Compatible with Windows XP, USB Port, Mac OS X, Windows Vista  Comes with Carrying Case, USB Cradle, USB Charger, 100 Sheets of Dot Paper, Recording Headset  0.6x6.1x0.6 "

Testimonials and my personal opinion... My opinion: Why would you want this? Well if you are writing something that a teacher said or writing up an interview at a board meeting, the audio that was being spoken as you were writing is automatically recorded to the pen. Click that word or sentence at a later date and regardless of what you wrote, what was said will be played out via the pen’s built-in speaker or fed out to the headphone jack for you to listen to. You can then choose to slow the speed down, speed it up or play at normal speed. Once you've recorded your words, both written and audio (you don't have to record audio every time) you can transfer it to the included software package. It will work with Mac and PC, and is basically a database management system for your notes. Overall, I would highly recommend this product. Other peoples opinions: Anonymous: I like the Livescribe Pulse quite a bit. I think it performs as advertised and is relatively easy to use. Livescribe PulseLivescribe Pulse Anonymous: This product is okay - it's a product for the likes of students, journalists, or even doctors, who are constantly scribbling things down with a pen. Anonymous: The Livescribe Pulse is an amazing piece of tech, and I enjoy using it, but has an admittedly limited appeal. I’d love to see more creative and functional uses implemented with future "apps," and a touch of refinement in the current interface. Overall, this is recommended for anyone who takes a lot of notes.
