Underground Storage Tank (UST) Program Permits and Inspection – 8,241 permitted UST Systems, 27,729 registered tanks Issues permits to operate UST systems and inspects UST facilities to ensure compliance with UST statutes, rules and policies. Outreach efforts include educational and training opportunities. Corrective Action – Open Commercial Incidents 5,936 Open Noncommercial incidents 2,103 Oversees assessment and cleanup activities, conducts inspections and technical assistance visits. Pre-approves Trust Fund requests and reviews claims for technical reimbursement. Samples wells and monitors cleanup efforts to reduce risk to human health and the environment. Closed 14,312 commercial; 7,620 noncommercial and closed 2,722 non-UST incidents. Trust Fund - Commercial Revenue = $26,316,112Noncommercial Revenue= $7,272,018 Oversees trust fund eligibility decisions and fund reimbursements. Implements state contracts for assessment and cleanup of contaminated sites. Reviews technology used for assessment and cleanup of groundwater and soil contamination and approves innovative technologies for use statewide. NC DENR Division of Waste Management

DSCA Program Dry-Cleaning Solvent Cleanup Act (DSCA) Cleanup statistics 1500 estimated contaminated dry- cleaning sites in N. C. 375 identified contaminated dry- cleaning sites 316 sites certified into DSCA program 33 sites have received No Further Action (NFA) notices 32 sites with NFA notices pending Compliance Program DSCA Minimum Management Practices Delegation of Air Quality (NESHAP) and Hazardous Waste (RCRA) Education and Outreach Inspections, Notices of Violation, Enforcement NC DENR Division of Waste Management
