Galatians 3:21b “For if [assuming it were possible] there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.”

Galatians 3:21b “For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.”

Galatians 3:21b “For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.”

Galatians 3:21b “For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.”

Galatians 3:21 Ron Merryman “The point is: the righteousness, which God demands, could never be produced in human beings by any type of law system. In giving the Sinaitic Law, God never intended that it produce righteousness (in the sense of justification) or life (in the sense of regeneration). No one can be righteous before God on the basis of law works and no one can be regenerated or born-again on the basis of law works. When viewed from divine perspective, one then would not look to the law for life or righteousness. Anyone who does is simply ignorant of or confused about God’s purposes for His law.”

“confined” sugklei,w SUNKLEIŌ Vine’s “to shut together, shut in on all sides” “is used [literally] of a catch of fish,…metaphorically in Rom 11:32…[and] in Gal 3:22-23”

Rom 11:32 Vine’s “The meaning from the context, is that God has ordered that all should be convicted of disobedience without escape by human merit, that He might display His mercy, and has offered the Gospel without national distinction…”

Gal 3:22-23 Vine’s “…the Apostle shows that, by the impossibility of being justified by keeping the Law, all, Jew and Gentile, are under sin, so that righteousness might be reckoned to all who believe.”

Gal 3:22 “all are under sin” Deut 27:26

Gal 3:22 “all are under sin” Deut 27:26 and Psa 5:9, 10:7, 14:1-3, 36:1, 53:1-3, 140:3 Isa 59:7-8 Ecc 7:20

Gal 3:22 James Boice “In the first part of this verse Paul give a capsule statement of the major truths of the first three chapters of Romans: the law shows that all—the immoral person, the ethical person, and the religious person—have sinned and need a Savior. The second half of the verse reminds us that there is indeed a Savior and that it had always been God’s purpose to save a great company through faith in him. Seen from this angle, even the law flowed from God’s grace, because it prepared men and women to receive the Lord Jesus Christ when he came.”
