Vocabulary A term is a number or the product of a number and a variable(s). ex. 5, -12p, 35m 3, x 2 y 5 z 13 A constant is a term that has no variable. ex. 15, , -22, 1 Like terms have identical variables (with the same exponents). ex. 4m 2 and -8m 2, 17x and x, 8y 3 k 2 and -2k 2 y 3 A coefficient is a number that multiplies a variable. ex.4x, -13y, 54mn
