Leadership Preparation Leadership: Preparation & Development Presenter: Pastor Enock Guerrier (9/24/2011) The Call and Preparation to Ministry

Every Christian is Called to Ministry God’s call comes to people in different ways. God equips us and helps us fulfill his call. God calls some Christians to specific kinds of ministry. God calls us through other Christians.

Different types of Calls or Ministries Pastoral Ministry (Ministère Pastoral) Children and Youth Ministry (Ministère des Enfants et Jeunes) Campus Ministry (Ministère dans les Universites et Colleges) Compassionate Ministry (Ministère d’Aide et de Compassion) Chaplaincy (Aumônerie) Christian Counseling (Conseil et Guide) Christian Education (Education Chretienne) Communications Evangelism (Evangelisation) Missions

Discovering Your Gifts and Graces Periodically you should answer the following questions Are the means of grace(worship, Scripture, sacraments)deeply ingrained in my lifestyle? Can I speak intelligibly? Can I think analytically and logically? Are my intellectual abilities up to the task of ministry? How much am I willing to give up in order to serve the poor and the sick? Am I willing to take up the Cross and die to self and the world? How deep is my capacity to feel another’s hurts? Is agape love growing in my heart? Am I capable of leading a community of faith? Can I communicate the Christian message with persuasiveness and integrity? Am I a person in whom the community of faith can place full trust? Do I love to read and study the Scripture? Am I learning the disciplines to be a competent interpreter of Scripture?

Leadership Development Vocation Passion and Patience Preparation and Provision Creativity and Faithfulness Vision and Organization The 3 C’s to Consider in Ministry Development (Staffing) Character: who a person is and the values he brings to the team (Prov. 23:7) Competency: skill, experience and talent Chemistry: being on the same page for a cause; -temperament & emotional intelligence. Philosophy of ministry is more significant than theology and doctrine -when it comes to working together

Developing Staff Write a Plan Build a team Train your People (Discipleship) Cast the Vision (your people must know what you want to accomplish… ……………………..tell them where you are heading to) Require Accountability Give Feedback Manage Conflict (critique and conflict are the 2 biggest ministry discouragers).
