CLIMATES WITH RAIN ALL YEAR S3 CLIMATIC REGIONS

In this topic you will learn The location of equatorial climate areas The characteristics of their climate and vegetation To identify this on climate graph The advantages and disadvantages of such a climate

Where are the Rainforests There are four main areas of equatorial climate across the world All of these are found along between 10 o North and 10 o South of the Equator

Characteristics of this climate Temperatures reach above 25 o C all year round Therefore there are no seasons in the rainforest like we have in the U.K. Campa Pita, Belize

Characteristics of this climate It rains every month in the rainforest Annual rainfall is high, at least 1500mm

Why is the climate like this? The position of the sun effects the climate of Rainforest Because the sun shines directly over the equator the energy from the suns rays in concentrated on a smaller area making it very warm Equator SUN

Advantages and Disadvantages ADVANTAGES High temperatures and rainfall allow many different crops to grow Many rivers can be used or transport A lot of trees can be used for furniture paper etc DISADVANTAGES Forest so dense difficult to build roads, railways for access Heavy rain = poor soil Isolation means people live subsistence
