Incident Management Assistance Patrols (IMAP) In Highway Scene Management

IMAP Began in NC mountains 40 years ago Now mostly serve interstates in congested areas of North Carolina (but not in every county) Resource for quick response Set up temporary lane and/or road closures Assist stranded motorists Remove debris

IMAP IMAP trucks carry: First aid kits Jacks Water Gasoline and diesel fuel Jumper cables Fire extinguishers Bags of Quick Dry for spills Shovels Spotlight Winch

IMAP Set up temporary detours around incident Coordinate emergency rolling road blocks Provide safe and secure environment for emergency responders

IMAP When parking your vehicles at the scene: Do not park behind an IMAP unit or on both sides of the roadway. Move non-essential vehicles out of the roadway. Turn front emergency lights off and leave the back light on.
