Solving Quadratic Equations LUKE, BRANTLEY, AND JAKE

Methods of Solving QEs  There are four ways to solve quadratic equations.  Graphing  Factoring  Completing the Square  The Quadratic Formula

Types of Solutions  There are three types of solutions to Quadratic Equations  Rational  Irrational  Complex/Imaginary

4 Methods and 3 Types of Solutions MethodTypes of Solutions Found GraphingRational and Irrational FactoringRational Completing the SquareAll 3 Types Quadratic FormulaAll 3 Types

Complex Solutions  So to find complex solutions, you must either  Complete the Square  Use the Quadratic Formula  Let’s look at both of these methods some more.

Completing the Square  This video clearly explains each step for completing the square.  This same guy has several videos exactly like this where he works more difficult examples. Link to his channel:PatrickJMTPatrickJMT

Completing the Square  RegentsPrep offers a great step-by-step break down on how to complete the square.  It also spends time at the beginning explaining what complete the square is used for and why it is important.  It offers several examples with the different types of solutions. RegentsPrep

Quadratic Formula  Purple Math works several different types of quadratics using the formula.  It compares the formula to the other methods so students can see why they need the formula.  It works several examples that highlights the different types of solutions and always shows the graph of the quadratic so students can see how the solutions look when graphed. Purple Math

Quadratic Formula  Algebrahelp.com works several different types of examples to help students learn how to use the formula.  The website has a great introduction to the formula that explains when and how it’s used.  This website works problems that have a higher level of difficulty so students can see how to use the formula in all types of situations.
