The Animal Cell On the next right pg please draw the organelle and label its function.

Cell Membrane Made up of a lipid bilayer with embedded proteins Cholesterol, helps give the membrane its strength, and is not found in plant cells Regulates what enters and leaves the cell

Cytoplasm – Cytoskeleton- network of filaments that gives the cell its shape –Function: Cytoskeleton- network of filaments that gives the cell its shape

Centrioles/ Microtubules fibers that help organize chromosomes during cell division Function: fibers that help organize chromosomes during cell division

Nucleus – center of cellular activity, contains all genetic material Function: Nucleus – center of cellular activity, contains all genetic material

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum WITH ribosomes, make proteins for export out of cell Function: WITH ribosomes, make proteins for export out of cell Ribosome make proteins have no membrane

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum NO ribosomes, make lipids for membranes Function: NO ribosomes, make lipids for membranes

Golgi Apparatus flat sacs that package and transport materials out of cell Function: flat sacs that package and transport materials out of cell

Mitochondrion produces ATP (energy) by cellular respiration Function: produces ATP (energy) by cellular respiration

Lysosome (only in animal) have enzymes to digest molecules into smaller parts Function: have enzymes to digest molecules into smaller parts

Vacuole sac that stores water, salts, proteins and carbohydrates Function: sac that stores water, salts, proteins and carbohydrates
