Community Park UPDATE
History The idea of a park for Royal Oak/Rocky Ridge began in 2008 with a community wide questionnaire survey. The respondents were asked to choose their prioritized list of sports or other amenities like a community building. The follow up survey in 2013 gained additional feedback from the communities on their preferred amenities and facilities. The land for a community park was identified in 2008 and has been secured for use by the Community Association. A third survey was posted on the RRROCA website – response to the concept has been favourable The Community Association has determined from the surveys that the most highly rated facility is an outdoor rink. Outdoor rinks are a community social focal point in many Calgary communities. The plan for the community park has now been expanded to include other year- round family uses and multi-generational facilities. The new plan also includes a “hub” for a range of community events. The plan concept has been redesigned to move hockey rink and parking as far from adjacent homes as possible, parking lot is now gated, and community gardens and orchard have been eliminated
