Market trends Value Proposition Train transportation systems have ever increasing level of sophistication that relies on embedded electronic equipment and communication networks. Train builders, operators and their suppliers, need to develop embedded systems while meeting increasingly stringent certification constraints (EN50128). Challenges are to increase customer quality services and to assess the safety (equipments and passengers). A major issue is to decrease time & cost for the qualification of electronic control units and electro mechanical equipments with progressive integration. The change management is also a main objective for the train makers (requirement modification, hardware replacement…). ControlBuild provides features to efficiently manage the Engineering Process of Control Systems in compliance with safety standards. Coupling Model-based Design & Model-based Test processes, ControlBuild enhances the productivity for the development of the distributed software on the Control and Monitoring System. Functional specification and logical design are independent of the hardware architecture. Train maker can chose the architecture and the hardware provider at the end of the development project (openness, interoperability, obsolescence management). The value to the customer is the reduction on the cost and time to deliver an operational control system (Development costs can be halved and reduction in on-site test time can be reduced by 65%). Test activities like Integration, Factory Acceptance Tests and System Qualification are also supported by ControlBuild which provide IO and communication driver interfaces for the physical connection with equipments under tests. ControlBuild gives the ability to pre-validate control system – dramatically reducing production down-time caused by systems updates being performed during planned maintenance operations.
