Preparations In order to handle an emergency properly it is important to be prepared in advance. You should have a First Aid kit, know CPR, keep an emergency contact sheet and have medical records available.

First Aid Kit You should keep a first aid kit in your car as well as your house. Make sure it is easy to carry, simple to open, and durable. Know how to use all the supplies in your First Aid kit.

Know CPR CPR will be needed if a person is not breathing or circulating blood properly. Make sure you know how to perform CPR properly. Have someone call 911, even if you think you know how to handle the situation yourself.

Emergency Contact Sheet Keep an emergency contact sheet in a safe place at home and in your car. Include your doctors’ phone numbers, relatives and friends who live nearby. NamePhone Number Poison Control Center Doctor Home Spouse Emergency Contact #1 Emergency Contact #2

Medical Records In a safe place, keep a record or all important health facts for you and your family members. Include all allergies, medications, and pre-existing illnesses or conditions. Be ready to tell paramedics this information if they ask for it.
